The Presets
Classic Negative
Classic Negative is strongly inspired by Fujifilm's film simulation of the same name. While it is not a 100% accurate copy, it comes very close to the original.
Just like the original, this preset features muted colors, strong highlights, and contrast-rich shadows. The shadows have a hint of turquoise, while the brighter areas of the image lean slightly towards magenta, creating both a strong overall contrast and a pronounced color contrast.
This preset is perfect for quick snapshots.
Fantastic Neg
Fantastic Neg offers slightly more saturation, a generally warmer color temperature, and softer contrast.
I especially enjoy using this preset for landscape shots and photos taken on sunny days.
Fujicolor Pro
Fujicolor Pro is very similar to Classic Negative but has a more dramatic touch. This preset features even stronger contrast, lower saturation, and slightly muted highlights.
Due to its dramatic nature, I love using it for street photography. It is also likely to work wonderfully for documentary photography.
Reala Ace
Reala Ace, like Fantastic Neg, offers slightly more saturation and softer contrast. Additionally, Reala Ace provides a more accurate color rendering, especially in the red tones.
This makes the preset a great all-rounder for all types of photography.
Classic Gold
Classic Gold features a significantly warmer color temperature, while the shadows remain cool. This creates a strong color contrast, making it particularly suitable for scenarios like sunsets.
Bulb Fiction
This preset is probably the closest to Classic Negative as a base preset. The only notable difference is the lower contrast and slightly reduced saturation.
So, if Classic Negative feels a bit too intense, Bulb Fiction is a great alternative.
Creamy Color
With a very warm color temperature and heavily muted colors, Creamy Color gives photos a wooden retro look.
I absolutely love using this preset for photos of traditional buildings like churches and temples, as well as for any type of photo where I want to add a vintage touch.
Peach
As the name suggests, Peach gives photos a delicate pink haze, with noticeably less contrast and lower saturation compared to the base preset.
This preset is highly stylized and therefore not suitable for every type of photo. However, for those unafraid to unleash their creativity, it can produce great results.
Glacier
Glacier, like Peach, is highly stylized. It features a pronounced cool color temperature, muted colors, and very strong contrast.
This preset works especially well in winter but is equally suited for bright blue skies and ocean blues in summer.
Bleach Bypass
Bleach Bypass is an effect from the analog film world, where the bleaching process during color film development is skipped. The result is an image with reduced saturation and brightness, increased contrast, and more film grain. Several famous movies, such as 'Saving Private Ryan,' used Bleach Bypass in their process.
This preset emulates exactly this effect. As a result, photos appear significantly more dramatic, similar to Fujicolor Pro.
Childhood Vacation
Childhood Vacation has a somewhat faded look, reminiscent of aged prints. The preset is designed to evoke memories of old snapshots, perhaps taken as a child on a beach vacation and forgotten for years. The result is an image where much of the detail and color has already been lost.
I believe this preset works best on sunny days.
Loki
Inspired by Mehdi Berrada's Loki Fujifilm recipe, this preset features a deep, dark look with very strong contrast, significantly muted colors, and a distinctive brown tone.
Loki truly shines in extreme lighting conditions, with dark shadows broken by intense light rays.
Xpro
Xpro features a pronounced green tint, reminiscent of films like 'Fallen Angels' or 'Chungking Express.'
This preset is particularly well-suited for night shots and indoor settings with artificial lighting, such as subway stations. The photos gain a unique, cinematic effect as a result.
